Volunteer Services

Caring, generous volunteers compliment our programs and aid us in our mission to provide care for families in our community who face chronic conditions, illness, death and bereavement.

Our volunteers meet mandatory requirements that allow us to assure our patients, participants, and their families that they are dealing with individuals of character and compassionate concern for others.

Our agency is a unique organization, combining hospice services and adult day programs under one roof. Both programs rely on dedicated volunteers to assist with a wide scope of support services. Volunteers are trained and oriented to their assignment area and always have staff support during their volunteer experience.

A Volunteer's Story

"I started volunteering at ADS in February, 2006. The people there are wonderful. Our participants have ranged in age from 21 to well over 90. They are at ADS for a variety of reasons with physical, mental, and age challenges. They are so sweet and appreciative of everything. I always tell people I go to ADS to get my hugs.

A volunteer at ADS needs two things—a smile and the ability 'to go with the flow.' The participants are interesting and fun to be with. You can hear stories about growing up on a ranch in New Mexico in the 1920’s, cooking for the army in Burma, life in the Philippines during the Japanese occupation, or training horses. It would be wonderful to have more volunteers so that everyone there can get the personal attention they deserve.

You should give volunteering at ADS a try. I challenge you to volunteer there four times. By the end of your fourth time, you will have made friends with such great people you will be hooked. Some of our participants are Spanish-speaking-only so if you have the gift of being bilingual that would be an extra help. Come and visit with us."
